About Us

Meet Rebecca & Shaun
We are a dedicated, small-scale hobby breeder of Stabyhouns, deeply committed to preserving the integrity and temperament of this rare and remarkable breed. Our dogs and their puppies are fully integrated into our family life. This means that every puppy born and raised here experiences a loving, stimulating home environment from day one, ensuring they are well-socialized and confident before they ever leave our care.
As active and passionate members of the Ameri-Can Stabyhoun Association (ASA), we adhere to the highest ethical breeding standards. We are honored to play a small part in the worldwide efforts to preserve this breed, and we work closely with the ASA’s Breeders Advisory Committee, who do an outstanding job to ensure the health, longevity, and true characteristics of the Stabyhoun. All of our matings follow the ASA’s Code of Ethics, and the pairings are carefully analyzed and approved to ensure the best possible health outcome of the puppies. For more information on the breeding regulations we follow, please see the ASA’s Breeding Regulations page. https://stabyhouns.org/about-the-breed/#regulations
Our ultimate goal is to connect our happy, healthy, and well-adjusted puppies with loving, permanent homes where they will thrive as cherished family members. We believe in providing ongoing support and guidance to our puppy families, fostering a community dedicated to the well-being of these incredible dogs.
Meet Ginny the Stabyhoun
At the heart of Salish Sea Stabyhouns is our beloved girl, Ginny.
When Ginny joined our family in 2021, we knew she was something truly special. With her playful yet gentle temperament and striking good looks, she quickly became more than just a companion; she became the inspiration behind our passion for this remarkable breed.
Ginny embodies everything that makes the Stabyhoun so unique: she is calm, intelligent, affectionate, and deeply loyal. Her sweet demeanor and her ideal Stabyhoun beauty won her the title of Staby Queen at the Ameri-Can Stabyhoun Association’s Northwest Regional Event in 2023.
She’s also a true West Coast dog at heart — happiest when she’s sailing the waters of Howe Sound, ears in the wind and eyes on the horizon. Her love of adventure, combined with her calm demeanor, makes her the perfect first mate on the water and a beloved companion at home.
As we learned more about the breed’s rich history and rare status, especially in North America, our admiration for the Stabyhoun only grew. We founded Salish Sea Stabyhouns with a commitment to preserving the heritage, health, and heart of this exceptional breed. Our goal is to raise well-socialized, confident puppies who will bring the same joy to their families that Ginny brings to ours every day.
